This large-scale installation was designed for the opening of the New York Public Library Schwarzman Building renovation project. This library's Berg Collection houses an extensive archive on Vladimir Nabokov's authorship and science. Images from this archive and other library treasures were to be incorporated into the graphic artworks.
This project was not brought to fruition after Norman Foster was dismissed from completing his controversial new public library within the Schwarzman Research Library. The project ended due to public misconceptions. The main reason for the uproar was that the library's shelving "stacks" would have to be moved. Nevertheless, the stacks were moved because they were a fire hazard. The city's journalistic miscommunication was unfortunate. Foster remained unheard, directors left their positions, and the installation remains only on this website. Although this project could be presented at a future date.
